Are you a parent? Do you interact with
children in any way, form or manner
? If yes, What would you be doing on the
last Sunday of this month
(January)?
The City Kids Show with Aunty Bimbo has
put together the second edition of
an interactive Parents Forum to deliberate
on the way forward for our
children as they resume 2nd term in their
various schools.
When there was the Ebola scare in the
country, we all learnt the
protective measures against Ebola very
FAST! This included regular
hand-washing and regular use of hand
sanitiser among other things.
However, what measures have you learnt
as a parent or guardian, to protect
your children and wards from child sexual
abuse? Asides choosing a good
school for your children based on the
name, prestige, location and
structure of the school, are there child
protection measures put in place
by that school?
How about in religious institutions like our
churches and mosques?. What
protection measures are in place when
you drop your children off at the
Sunday School or Children's church?
This is not the time to leave things to
chance. Statistics show that a
child is being molested every other day in
different parts of Nigeria. Let
our children not become part of these
statistics. Let's come together and
learn the steps to look out for and the
policies to ensure are put in place
as regards this.
United Nations Children's fund, UNICEF

Specialist, Taiwo Akinlami will be on
ground to enlighten us further. With

even beyond the shores of
Nigeria.
